Phase 1 - Dare County Capital Improvements Plan

Phase 1 of the Capital Improvements Plan is currently underway. This phase was included in the Capital Improvements Plan that was approved by the Dare County Board of Commissioners in September 2022 and includes the construction of three new Dare County EMS stations.

Project Details

Dare County EMS currently operates out of eight stations, which are located in Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Southern Shores, Frisco, Rodanthe, Manns Harbor and Manteo, as well as the Dare MedFlight helicopter hangar on Roanoke Island. The modernization of all of these facilities will aid in improving Dare County EMS’s response to the influx of emergency calls that are received and better support the department in its ongoing efforts to meet the needs of the community.

These much-needed projects are scheduled to be completed in multiple phases over the next several years, the first of which includes the construction of three new EMS facilities: Station 1 in Kill Devil Hills, Station 4 in Southern Shores and Station 7 on Roanoke Island (the Dare MedFlight Hangar).
