The State of North Carolina provides the NC Flood Risk Information System (FRIS) as a public service to the citizens of North Carolina. FRIS contains digitally accessible and downloadable flood hazard data, models, maps, risk assessments and database driven reports. 

  • Updated flood maps are scheduled to be effective June 19, 2020.
  • The 2006 flood maps and the updated flood maps for Dare County can be viewed on FRIS
  • By typing their address into FRIS, users can locate their property and view the flood hazard and risk information associated with it such as the flooding source, the flood event water surface elevation, and the flood zone, if applicable. Check the flood zone designation for your property at http://fris.nc.gov/fris/
