Boat Ramps 

There are several free public boat ramps and docks located within Dare County.

Duck Blind License

A Duck Blind License may be issued by the Dare County Game and Wildlife Commission to applicants who meet the requirements. 

Fitness Opportunities

Fitness Classes are available for residents and property owners of all ages at the following locations. Classes for ages 55+ are usually free of charge. Pricing for other ages depends on the facility and the class.  Each facility listed below also has a fitness room available for use with various equipment. • The Fessenden Center in Buxton on Hatteras Island(All Ages)
• The Thomas A. Baum Senior Center in Kill Devil Hills(Age 55+ ONLY)
• The Virginia S. Tillett Community Center in Manteo (All Ages) 

Parks and Recreation

Dare County Parks and Recreation offers a variety of affordable programs and activities for individuals and families. Enjoy the outdoors at a local park, participate in one of the adult or youth leagues or enjoy a specialized class.

Rodanthe Beach Access

The Rodanthe Beach Access operates sunrise to sunset. The access features 97 parking spaces, a bathhouse, outdoor showers, picnic tables, a gazebo and an ADA compliant boardwalk to the gazebo on the dune line. 

Old Swimming Hole

The Old Swimming Hole has sheltered picnic tables and provides direct access for swimmers to the Croatan Sound. A lifeguard is on duty in the summer.
