The mission of Dare County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is to provide high-quality, innovative and cost-effective prehospital emergency medical care and transportation for Dare County residents and visitors.

The caring and compassionate staff of highly trained EMS professionals provide services supported by the resources and leadership of the Dare County Board of Commissioners. Dare County EMS continually strives to be a leader in EMS and aeromedical transport throughout the state, region and nation.

Emergency medical services in Dare County are provided at the Advanced Life Support (ALS) level of care. All personnel hold credentials issued by the state of North Carolina, which requires a high level of continuing education and ongoing training. Paramedics also maintain certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).

  • Only patient-assist calls for medical appointments will be considered if Dare County EMS has resources available. 

  • Blood pressure checks can be done at any Dare County EMS station. All EMS stations are secured, and there are doorbells (or you can knock) to alert the crew. Please know if we are out of the station for emergency calls, the door may not be answered.  

  • Call 911 from your location for any emergency. Dare County EMS will be dispatched to your location!

If you regularly take medication, print out this medication form, fill it out and keep it in your wallet. This form will help you and your family members remember all of the medicines you are taking.  In the event of an emergency, it will also provide doctor(s) and first responders with a current list of your medications.
