1. What is essential and workforce housing?
2. Why can’t Dare County just purchase a plot of land and build an apartment complex on it using tax dollars?
3. Why doesn’t Dare County just purchase undeveloped land or a vacant property in one of the six towns to be used for essential and workforce housing?
4. There is plenty of undeveloped land on the Dare County mainland and Hatteras Island. Why can’t apartment buildings be constructed in places like East Lake, Stumpy Point and Manns Harbor?

7. If Dare County has millions of dollars available to fund beach nourishment projects, why can’t it use some of that money to fund the development of essential/workforce housing units?
8. Why does a housing development need to qualify for tax credits in order to be constructed or modified to be turned into individual rental units?
9. Has Dare County considered parcels of land that individuals might be willing to sell for the development of essential and workforce housing in Dare County?
10. Will these housing units also allow members of Dare County’s essential workforce to have their spouses and/or children live with them?
11. Why aren’t there currently any projects being proposed on Hatteras Island?
12. Won’t this be like Section 8 housing and mean most families in Dare County will make too much money to qualify?
