  • The three Dare County Library locations (Manteo, Kill Devil Hills and Hatteras) circulated over 136,900 physical items, such as books and DVDs.  With the closure to the public due to COVID-19 in mid-March 2020, this figure is 23% less than last year.
  • We lent 14, 594 Cloud Library eBooks and eAudios to Dare County residents, as 23% increase from last year.
  • For all of FY 2019-2020, Tumblebooks (eBooks for kids) database was accessed 9,027 times, a 22% increase over last year.
  • Other digital content (Universal Class, RB Digital Magazines and NC Kids) was accessed 5,760 times.
  • The three Dare County Library locations are open to the public for a combined 124 hours per week.
  • Over 7,900 children attended a Dare County Library program or storytime last year.
  • 39% of the Dare County population is registered as a library borrower.
  • We delivered over 1,800 items to the elderly and homebound though our outreach service.
  • We answered over 13,400 reference questions.
  • Our public computers were used 9,454 times.
  • We tallied over 11,722 wireless internet sessions.
  • 586 books, newspaper and periodicals from public and academic libraries were borrowed throughout Dare County through the interlibrary loan service.
  • There are over 80,000 items within the three Dare County Library locations - 245,000 in the East Albemarle Regional Library system.
