The Dare County Library Board of Trustees meets quarterly (October, January, April, and June) to review the Trust Fund budget of the Dare County Library.

Eight Board Members, along with the Dare County Librarian, serve staggered three-terms appointed by the Dare County Board of Commissioners. Members may re-apply after their first term to remain on the Board an additional three years; after a second term, they must wait at least three years before applying again.
