Continuances:

Your court date can be changed by the Clerk’s office only in limited circumstances. In many cases, you may be required to appear before the judge to request a continuance. Please contact our office if you need to discuss your eligibility for a continuance.

Court Dates:

Go to www.nccourts.org and search “Court Calendars” and then “District and Superior Court Query”. If you fail to appear, you may be subject to some or all of the following: monetary penalty in addition to your court costs, an Order for your Arrest may be issued, and/or suspension of your driving privileges.

Court Costs/Fees:

For most criminal charges, any fees assessed against you are due on your court date. For traffic infractions, there is typically a certain number of days in which payment is due before a late penalty is imposed. If you require additional time, it is YOUR responsibility to request relief from the court. Court costs apply to all convictions whether or not you appear in court or choose to waive your appearance and enter a guilty plea (including paying your ticket online).

Supervised probation payments:

You may pay your monthly supervised probation payment at our cashier’s office. You will need the file number of your case. If you do not know your file number, you need to contact your probation officer to obtain it. If you opt to mail your payment, please type or legibly write your name and file number on your money order or cashier’s check- Personal checks are NOT accepted. Any payments that do not contain the correct information will be returned to you. If you require a receipt and are making your payment via mail, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Any inquiries regarding your payment amount or final balance should be directed to your probation officer.
