If you elect to have service of process delivered by the Dare County Sherriff’s Department, a $30 fee per Defendant/Respondent must be remitted. This fee is in addition to any applicable filing fee(s) owed to the Clerk’s office. You can make the payment directly to our office (“Clerk of Superior Court”) or to the Dare County Sheriff’s Department. 

Please note that the Dare County Sheriff’s Department can only serve process papers within Dare County; if the person or entity you are attempting to serve is outside the County, then you will have to take other measures.
