HISTORY

The Thomas A. Baum Senior Center was dedicated on December 7, 1987 in honor of a Dare County pioneer in transportation. Thomas A Baum designed, built, and operated ferries in the early 1900's and was an advocate of local economic development. The Baum family preserved this tract of land for public use in recognition of the love Thomas A Baum had for the Outer Banks.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Thomas A. Baum Senior Center offers a wide variety of programs and activities to promote active and healthy lifestyles for older adults and provides opportunities for recreation, socialization, nutrition, and health support services, for Dare County residents,  who are 55 and older.
