Amy Crawford, Administrative Technician Amy is a native of Manteo and a graduate of Manteo High School. She started with Dare County in 2003 as the Office Support Specialist at the Parks & Recreation office in Kill Devil Hills. She transferred to the Virginia S. Tillett Community Center in September 2014. Amy has completed the Caring Effectively for persons with Dementia training, is a Walk with Ease certified instructor through the Arthritis Foundation, and is CPR w/AED and First Aid certified. Amy loves helping people and is a great member of the Virginia S. Tillett Community Center team. |
Crystal Corbin, Fitness Coordinator Crystal is a graduate of Southwestern Community College with an Associate's Degree in Business Administration and Accounting.

Katherine "Kat" Irby, Leisure Activity Specialist katherine.irby@darenc.gov 252-475-9273 Kat has over two decades of educational experience in Dare County and has worked in tandem with the Dare County Public Services Department during this time. She holds two business degrees and Masters in Education. She is certified as a Diabetes Empowerment Education Program trainer, A Matter of Balance Virtual and In-Person Instructor, Caring Effectively for Persons with Dementia, Disaster Preparedness, has Elder Abuse Awareness education hours as well as being CPR w/AED and First Aid certified. Kat also serves Dare County older adults as a Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) Counselor and is a Walk with Ease Leader through the Arthritis Foundation. Kat is an Ann Johnson Institute graduate and has earned the North Carolina Senior Center Management Certification. A long-time member of the Dare County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, member of the GO FAR (Go Out for A Run) Advisory Board and a Special Olympics-Dare County Coach. In addition, she acts on behalf of the Virginia S. Tillett Community Center (VTCC) for external events. Kat loves that she has the opportunity to work for Dare County and give back to the community of which she is so fond. When you can’t find her with her fantastic VTCC participants and wonderful, dedicated co-workers and volunteers; she is likely spending time with her beloved family and friends. |
Sandy Pace, Community Center Director Sandy has a B.S. degree in Elementary Education, is a Certified Parks & Recreation Professional, Certified Senior Center Manager, is a Senior's Health Insurance Information Program Counselor (SHIIP), Diabetes Self-Management Program Lay Leader, ServSafe certified, has completed the Caring Effectively for persons with Dementia training, is a Walk with Ease certified instructor through the Arthritis Foundation, an Ann Johnson Institute for Senior Center Management graduate and is CPR w/AED and First Aid certified. Sandy started her career with Dare County in 1997 as the Transportation Coordinator at the Fessenden Center in Buxton. She has worked with the Dare County Parks & Recreation and Older Adult Services Departments since that time in multi-generational facilities creating, planning, implementing, and supervising programs and activities for people of all ages as well as supervising staff members. She loves working with people and feels very blessed to have the opportunity to work at the Virginia S. Tillett Community Center (VTCC) and interact with the community on a daily basis. Sandy loves to spend time with her family and spoil her grandchildren. She invites you to check out what's going on at the VTCC-"The Place to Be".
